La Tonnara

The Tonnara is easily to reach by car or by foot and it is situated in the western part of the Golfo di Castellammare, on a sounding depth of about 52 mt. It has all the characteristics of a Tonnara di "andata" e di "golfo". It is stretch for about 1200 mt in north, north-east direction. The Tonnara's island that is extended for some hundred metres, in its originary configuartion was divided in seven partition.

It was active until some year ago, today the Tonnara is a kind of sea museum in a natural scenary of rare beauty. The Tonnara is far of few hundred of metres from the country of Scopello. For the tourists is advisable to visit it in low-season to admirate it with more calm and quiet. To visit it, is a must.
